Whats this blog all about. Tough question?

When I first set out to blog, I wanted a place I could record my “journey” from being an enthusiast photographer to becoming a full time professional. That journey is still ongoing, but things have changed for me en-route to my destination.

Even in these two short years I have been trying to take the next step, so much has happened and I have met many diverse and interesting characters along the way. Its made me re evaluate a lot of things in my life, and has made me view absolutely everything from a fresh and more honest perspective.

My destination hasn’t changed and I still have those aspirations to be my own boss. But the experience of each day has become the overriding factor in all this. Photography has become a medium, or a conduit that helps me experience these new things and provides me a way to meet new people.

I have heard the phrase “its not the destination, but the journey that matters”. Its sort of become my mantra I suppose. If I don’t make it as a full time pro, well so what. I have seen whats more important to me, and I am already there, so happy days!

This blog site is a mixture of everything really and no longer has a set menu. From bits about how I have taken certain images,  the business aspect , interesting shoots, the highs and lows, with a little life philosophy sprinkled on top!

I hope this blog inspires at least one person to look at life a little differently. And if there is one message I want to get across in my blogs, its to stop focusing so much on tomorrow, next week or next year. Lets face it, you are in the now, and you will always be in the now!

Cheers

Chris

  1. Really impressed by both your photos and the stories! I totally feel like I’m in the same boat. Keep up the good work.

    • Thanks for your comment. Persistence seems to be the key with starting out in a venture like this. I have lost count of the amount of times I have nearly jacked it all in. But as my girlfriend keeps telling me I am stubborn as a mule and wont back down from a challenge so have kept chipping away. I’m sure there is light at the end of the tunnel we have just got to keep at it.

      Cheers
      Chris

  2. Beautiful work. Keep it up.

  3. Yes persistence is the key! Thanks for sharing your story! All the best with your photography.

  4. You have a good combination of visual and writing skills. Perhaps you should consider marketing yourself and this very specific creative ability via a weekend [one day only, say 8AM to Noon] workshop:
    “CBuggins Photography: 3-minutes Bliss”
An experiential, hands-on workshop that explores the challenging rewards of long-exposure, daytime pohtography.

If you take it to noon, maybe collaborate with a caterer and cross promote your wares….

    • Hi

Thanks for your advice re the workshop idea. Its certainly something i would consider one day but I must admit i’m still finding my feet with the whole blogging thing. Still stacks to learn, but thank you. Its a good idea.

      Regards
      Chris

  5. wow…fantastic staying power you have! ive often thought about doing something similar, ie going freelance, but having regular income is a must these days…even more so now! ive had one or two pics taken up by the local press, nothing more…i guess i didnt push it any further either. maybe one day……great blog tho….best of luck!

    • Hey, thanks for your comment. I know what you mean, i have nearly jacked the idea in on more than one occasion but the “pull” is getting stronger to keep at it. Like you say though, one day when it feels right you will have another crack at it.

      Thank you
      Chris

  6. Hi Chris,
Thanks for stopping by my blog and becoming a follower. I look forward to seeing your comments and suggestions. My photos in no way can rival yours, but you may see some things you like in Michigan from time to time, to give you an idea of where to go when you visit here.

Great news on your big boost from being Freshly Pressed!
